What's your anti-aging secret? This is a question that is being asked and answered for us in magazines, on talk shows and every website imaginable. We are inundated by ads for anti-aging creams, procedures, injectables, peels and even anti-aging pantyhose! Now I have nothing against any of these remedies per se. I certainly have my arsenal of "outer beauty" anti-aging tools.. Eye cream: absolutely, fade cream: no doubt, moisturizer with sunscreen: never leave home without it, night cream to rejuvenate my sleeping skin: of course, permanent makeup for my now sparse eyebrows: you better know it.
Now maybe you don't do all of this or perhaps you do even more (I didn't get into my whole list). Being a passionate observer/admirer of women my entire life and as a Women's Ministry Director and Lifestyle Coach, I have occasion to meet and talk to my fair share of women. I am like you: attracted to vibrancy, effervescence, peacefulness, grace, positivity and joy. These are what I see as the real anti-agers, the women who literally defy the clock! The amount of wrinkles or absence of them is lost on me when in their presence. Pettiness is not in their vocabulary. They see life as an adventure and not because they haven't had their fair and not-so-fair share of its' lumps. They are survivors of everything: abuse, neglect, disease, divorce, tragic loss, imprisonment and torture. They have lost parents, children, best friends.Yet they appreciate their friendships and spend time each day laughing and really enjoying life. Something else I noticed; they rarely, if ever complain, engage in gossip and have found their purpose. Hmmm!Yet, the sparkle, the luminosity can't be denied. They purpose to find joy in what others may consider mundane. They treasure what's important and it's not Mr. Louboutin's newest strappy stiletto (although these women can be seen sashaying in them at any time). They have embraced the beauty of life and it radiates from the inside! So, I'm not throwing out my eye cream but any complaining or negativity has got to go!
Smooches!
